Let Me Ramble For a Minute...

It's been a long, busy week! I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad it's Friday!

I was going to plant flowers tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain most of the weekend. My yard is looking pretty lonely without any color about now. I am not sure what I am going to plant this year. Last year, I planted Zinnias and they were absolutely beautiful for about two weeks! I still don't know what happened. They ALL died! Yes, I watered them! Hmmmm....maybe I watered them to much. Anyhow, I had to pull up every dead Zinnia up and take them back to Home Depot. For those of you who are not aware, Home Depot and Lowe's will give you replacements or refund your money back on any dead plants, flowers, and trees for one year if you have your receipt and the dead plants. They don't even ask questions of you.

Anyhow, I purchased just plain ole' ....uh...uh....uh...I can't even think of them right now. Darn it! I posted about them at the time last year, but can not think of the name of them to save my life. Wait...maybe I could if my life truly depended on it. Seriously, I can not think of them. I just asked Dirk and he couldn't remember either. I should just go back to the old post to get the name of them, but I don't wanna.

Morgan has prom next Saturday night, so we have to finish buying her accessories this weekend. She picked out such a beautiful dress. It's hot pink! Hot pink is actually a great color on Morgan. I am sure I'll have LOTS of pictures to show ya!

Jae asked me today if I would quit my job and become a teacher at her school?!?!?!? Uh....not! I have so much respect for teachers and how they seem to remain calm at all times (for the most part) with all of the precious and wonderful children. Seriously, teaching is truly a gift and it takes a special person to do this job; it's just not me. Jae then asked if I could be the lady who sits in the front office. I thought this was very sweet of her to even want her Mommy at her school in the first place. Anyhow, I wanted to quickly change the subject so I told her that I didn't think the school was hiring right now. lol! Jae is one of those kiddos who don't forget too much. With that being said, I am sure that this subject will resurface again in the future.

As I've mentioned previously, I don't watch much TV. However, Dirk and I do watch American Idol and Lost. Dirk watches other shows, but this is about all the TV that I can handle. Anyhow, the night is young and we're about to RELAX and watch a few episodes of Lost. I will be back on later tonight to visit you all.

Okay, I know that I was totally rambling here....but I don't ramble too much on my blog. Go ahead and say it, I know what you're thinking....I just seem to ramble a bit on other people's blogs. LOL!

Have a FABULOUS weekend, friends!

Don't worry, I ramble more than anyone! How fun, I bet it is exciting to be planning prom. I can't wait to see the pictures.

I hope we don't get too much rain...we'll be at a concert tomorrow night.

Have a wonderful weekend!

You are such a breath of fresh air, Daphine!

My favorite color is hot pink...I can't wait to see pics!

I don't think I've ever planted a flower in my whole life....I leave that up to my husband. Maybe one day I'll have time to get into that.

I'm with you on the teaching thing. People ask me all the time why don't I become a teacher, and to me, it's just such a responsibility and I feel you just have to have a passion for it, and I don't and that wouldn't be fair to the students. That is so sweet that she wants you there though!

I love American Idol! Who's your fave? I'm liking Adam more and more....at first I didn't like him at all. I do think he's entertaining though. I like Danny for what he stands for...I hope he becomes a Christian artist.

Did not know that about Lowe's and Home Depot. Thanks for sharing!

Can't wait to see pics of the prom! I didn't realize she was that old--or are they doing things differently now?

I bought a few flowers today to plant tomorrow also. It's forcasted to be about 95 on Sunday! I better get busy and get it done tomorrow.

I miss prom time! Between proms and formals, we figure my daughter went to 9 and my son went to 4. Yep, it was expensive raising those two!

Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Oh my gosh, you're too funny..."They're not hiring right now." That sounds like something I would say just to end that convo! LOL, watch her come home w/ an application!

Can't wait to see Megan's prom dress! I bet it's beautiful and she looks gorgeous in it!!!!!

Anywho..have a great weekend, and I think I'll email you back now before I start writing a book on here!

You just ramble on girl! Sometimes those are the most fun posts ever! We did Zinnias one year but in pots. We only do annuals in pots and perennials in the yard. Ours did good in the pots but I know you guys have a different temperature zone than us. Keep trying different things until you find something that works. Luckily there are places that have warranties on the plants.

I can't wait to see Miss Morgan in her prom dress. I am most certain that she will be absolutely gorgeous!

Have a great Saturday!

Thanks for stopping by! You're so sweet!

I am a short (5'4") high school English teacher, so almost all of my students are bigger than me. Yes, I love my job, but please keep praying for teachers. It can be stressful at times.

I do not have a green thumb. In fact, I quickly kill all plants and flowers that are given to me. :o) Even my grass doesn't seem to like me...

I think you have a beautiful family! Best wishes for a relaxing weekend with your loved ones. God bless!

I can't wait to see Morgan's prom pictures....she is so beautiful!

I am ready to plant flowers also. I am like you I pick pretty flowers and plant them but then usually can't remember their names. This year I am vowing to get a small notebook and keep those little tags pasted in the notebook. If they do great I am going to note that. If they don't do so well I won't buy them next year. I usually just have pots of plants all around. I seem to do better than planting in the ground.

We are supposed to have Kids Day in the Park and Earth Day and it is drizzling here...boo! I hope it at least stops raining (just for a bit cause the good Lord knows we NEED the rain) so the children can enjoy the functions. Hope you have a great weekend.

Hey Daphine!
I plan on getting out and working in my gardens sometime today...it's going to be BEAUTIFUL weather! One flower I'd like to recommend to you is dianthyus (not sure of the spelling!). They are usually listed as annuals, but I've had them for years at every house we lived in and they come back, time and time, again. Mine bloom all summer long. You just have to be good about snipping the dead blooms off so they will reseed. They're one of my favorite flowers.

I bet Morgan is getting so excited about prom! Brittany doesn't have hers until mid-May. We still have to take her dress in to get the length altered and we have to find shoes and jewelry. Please be sure to share pics. of Morgan all dolled up...I'm sure she's going to look gorgeous!

I worked as a speech-lang. pathologist for several years in the public schools before Brittany was born and, let me tell you, it was a tough job! The paperwork was overwhelming. But...I loved my kids dearly and they made it all worthwhile. I may get back into it, one day! I do think that's so sweet that Jae is trying to get you a job at her school.

Enjoy your weekend, sweet friend! Love ya!

Girl, upi are to funny, "there not hiring right now" that kills me.

Yes, I did have a cage handy. It was one left over from when I had the baby chicks. I also have a rabbit cage and a hampster cage. The hampster cage was sitting by someones trash one day, all accessories included, I stopped and picked it up because it was too good to just throw away. It may come in handy for something elese someday. I live on a farm so we have managaerie of asorted animals at any given time. LOL

About your Zinnias, did you water them alot? They like a good drink and then to dry out. In fact they prefer it sirta dry. They will get moldy and set up with fungus if it becomes very rainey in the spring or if you water them to much. They are very easy to start from seed also. I usually take my foot and scratch up a rough place on the dirt, sprinkle some seeds, step on it a few times and let the rain water them, add good warm temps and sunshine and go back in 2 weeks and see what you have. Did them up and move them to where you want. Yes, I'm not kidding, Zinnias are that easy. They are one of my favorites, they are beautiful and I have also discovered if you space them out enough and give them ample room to grow, they can become as big as a small shrub in one season.

I have been working in my flowers alot too this week. It is raining here today too and it is free mulch day out at the city composting site and they have a man on a loader to load you up today. I'm sure it will be a rain out, so no mulch for us today. Boo HOo I am ready for it and it looks so bad with out it.

Good luck with the flowers this year and I hope you will post some pictures to share.

Take care,
Shanda

We are having a beautiful weekend, but it's supposed to rain for the next four days. I'm gonna have to turn off the computer and get outside and do some work! I'm very tempted to plant flowers, but we usually don't until the middle of May...we have late frosts around here. I might plant some in containers, though, so I could bring them inside if necessary.

Even though it's rainy, I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi Daphine, :)
I just love seeing the vibrant colors of Spring flowers! Take some photos for us when you plant them.
I would love to see what you do in your yard.
I'm having some trouble with our big hanging ferns we bought at Lowes.
We are guessing that it may be birds killing them.

My sister is a special education high scool teacher in Birmingham. You're right. I don't know how she does it. Teachers are all amazing people.

We love AI too!
It seems that Adam will win. I think they are being extra hard on Lil which I don't think is very nice at all.
I feel like she has lost her confidence because of it.
We'll see...it's not over yet.

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend my friend.
~Melissa :)

Its cool that Lowes has a flower replacemnet policy - I didn't realize that...but what a bummer that you have to dig them all up again! Hopefully those 'ole what's their name flowers will do well for you this, too!! :)

Hey there, Friend!

I'm with you.. can't wait for all that color! I had Zinnias last year and they were AMAZING! (I DO NOT have a green thumb, mind you) I don't remember giving mine much water so maybe too much was what happened to yours) If a flower/plant can't survive on it's own for at least a week or so here w/o getting watered.. it probably WON'T last for long! Hehehe

I also love Gerbera Daisies.. however I didn't have much luck with them! =-/

Anyway.. I stopped in to say THANKS for your prayers and encouraging words while we were waiting on test results for Zach. It's SUCH A BLESSING to know that I've got my bloggy buddies to help keep us covered with prayer! ☺

Oh, I scrolled down to do some catching up.. your daughter in those pictures.. WOW! Especially the second from the last.. WOW! Brace yourself, Mom, she's GORGEOUS.. she may get a lot more attention from boys that you want. ;-)

I hope you have a WONDERFUL week!

♥ You,
Tonya

Hi Daphine, I'm getting ready to plant Spring flowers too. I just love this time of year with everything green and growing.

I bet Morgan's prom pictures will be fabulous. I hope you can give us some details of where it was held and such too.

Thanks for the info about Home Depot and Lowes. I did not know that. I am terrible with flowers. I try. Some years are better than others.

Can't wait to see the prom pics. I am sure hot pink does look pretty on her. She's such a pretty girl. How could it not?

Take care my sweet friend!
Hope you have a great week!

You can ramble any time on my blog Daphine : ). You are one of my absolute most favorite ramblers : ). You would be a great receptionist in a school. The ones at Kaishon's school are SO grumpy! I understand that schools are very stressful places, but what ever happened to smiles and kindness? Isn't that standard practice? I actually get yelled at sometimes when I am calling about a change in pick up for Kaish or something like that. It stresses me out. I try to be kind back. Sometimes I succeed. Most times, not so much... Please love me any way : ).

I have planted a few things in pots and want to plant some things in my flower beds.
I'm with you, I need to get some color in this yard of ours.
I can imagine that Morgan would look BEAUTIFUL in hot pink!
Teaching is one of my passions and I am trying to work at keeping my teaching cert. current. ahhh... with two little boys, a passion for photography that is a hobby/business and being pregnant, college courses are the last thing on my mind.
I love your rambling and now I seem to be rambling!
