My Mommy Has Lost Her Mind!!!

While I was taking Jae to school this morning, I uttered quietly to myself, (so I thought), "Thank you, God, for another day."

Okay for those of you who don't quite know my little Jae, nothing gets past this child. I'll explain in more detail in another post one day.

Anyhow, from my backseat came a little voice, "Mom, do you always talk to God?"

"No, I don't all the time, but quite often," I said.

"Mom, does He talk back?" she asked.

"Well, sometimes He does," I said.

"Mom, what does his voice sound like?" she asked.

"Well, his voice is quiet and gentle," I said.

"Oh," she said.

We pulled into the school parking lot and as I turned back to help her gather her lunch and backpack, I quickly noticed that she was just sitting there. She hadn't even unbuckled. I would have given anything for you to see the look on her face.

The look on her face clearly read, "My mommy has lost her mind." LOL!

I know that she will understand one day when she gets older and will probably have her own talks with God. I'll be able to share this story with her and she'll laugh about it too. I am glad that we had this little talk on our way to school. I was able to drive in traffic and laugh most of the way to work!

Daphine,

This is too funny! You should link this up with the Friday Funnies.

I can just picture this whole scene...probably because my children have looked at me like that a time or two or three! haha

Blessings to you today, sweet sis!

That is the cutest story and I wanted to thank you for posting on my blog. I would have never assumed that you voted one way or another. I was shocked when I was called hurtful names because I didn't call anyone else hurtful names. I love you just the way you are and you are by far one of the nicest women that I've met. (online...lol! that makes it sound like a bad dating experience...hahahahahahaa!)

As for your little one I'm sure that you'll have a little laugh about this later. Nothing gets by children...nothing!

Daphine,

I talk to God all the time and my girls, too, get so amused by it. We might be driving around looking for a parking spot closer to a store's entrance and when I spot one and pull in, I say, "Thank you, Lord." I've had some close calls with all these crazy drivers around here and I'll always say, "Thank you, Lord, for watching over me." There have been times when I've been worried about getting test results back (mammograms, bloodwork, etc.) and when I get good news, I never hesitate to say, again, "Thank you, Lord."

So, yes, I talk to God all the time and I know He hears me! Looks like I've lost my mind, too! :)

That's so cute! Just get ready though.. as they become teen agers the instances when they think you have lost it become much more frequent. I'm to the point now that I challenge myself to get that reaction! Just for laughs.

LOL!! So funny! I'm also sure she'll sport that look on her face for several years to come, through adolescence. :)

Hi Daphine! I didn't know where else to comment, so I guess I'll leave one here again..lol!

Oh my gosh..I totally felt the same way when I read your post w/ the same scripture! I was like, "Oh my gosh!!" Just like you, I look forward to your posts! I love how God just brings people together from around the world! We all have that same common bond (Christ), but also have other things in our lives that we can personally relate to w/ someone else! Thanks for being so sweet, and for being my new friend!!!! I hope you're having a blessed Friday!!!!

Hi Daphine-I really enjoyed this post. I think that moms everywhere can really relate. I know that over the years I've had some interesting conversations in the car with my own kids. She will definitely understand one day, probably a lot sooner than you think!

I find this post so exciting. Not because Jae thinks her mommy has lost her mind but because I immediately started reflecting on what kind of life Jae would have had if you had not so willingly accepted her into your arms! Would she know about God? Would she know to listen for His voice? I don't think so! Jae is a very lucky little girl and I am so proud of you for sharing the one true God with her!
