Just A Few More Prayers Needed....

I really don't know where to start in with this post except to just blurt out what has happened.

After just losing my grandfather two weeks ago tomorrow, we have been hit with news earlier today that Dirk's grandfather's health has failed him and it's not likely that he will recover.

He's been in the hospital for a few days now with a bad UT infection and Septis (blood infection). When he was diagnosed a couple of days ago, the doctors were very optimistic that they had caught it very early. However, he's taken a turn for the worse and the antibotic is not working.

We're happy for him, but deeply saddened for us (if that makes sense). He's lived a long, good life of 93 years and has told us more than once that he's ready to go be with the Lord anytime.

I remember visiting Grandpa (Dirk's grandpa) the day that my Grandfather passed away and as I was sitting there in the quietness in his room, I started to cry. Grandpa reached out and patted me on the shoulder and comforted me with words of, "It's okay to cry. It's good to cry." I just thought it was the sweetest thing for him to say to me.

We took our girls to see him Sunday at the hospital, but haven't taken them back again until today. After getting the news today, we shared with them that Grandpa might go anytime. Morgan asked us to take her to see him. So earlier tonight, we did. It was a somber visit to say the least. Morgan is really having a difficult time right now. As Dirk and I were talking later on, I mentioned that I was so proud of Morgan for always wanting to go see Grandpa at the nursing home and how she always took the time to not only talk to him, but would kneel down at the end of each visit and give him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.

I never knew my great-grandfather. It's been a great blessing for our girls to not only know their Great Grandpa, but to also have a relationship with him.

So, if I don't comment or post in a few days, this is what's going on.

With the challenges that we've experienced in the last month, we're anxiously looking forward to when the sun not only shines again....but as a friend shared with me tonight, the sun will be even brighter.

Love to you all.

You all have been through so much lately and my heart truly is breaking for you! There are days when you feel like the grief and sadness will continue on indefinitely, but there WILL be brighter days ahead! Keep trusting in God and He will bring you peace and comfort.

Please tell Dirk that I'll be praying for him. His grandfather sounds like such a special man. What a blessing that your girls have had a close relationship with him...not many people have that opportunity with their great-grandparents.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, my friend! May you feel God's loving presence all around.

Sweet Sweet Daphine, I came over here to say thank you for leaving such warm words and prayer for my healing on my blog but to find out that in fact you and yours need our prayers.

I am praying...

I love you. Yes, the SON will shine even brighter in all of this not just the sun.

May His peace and comfort be with Dirk's Grandpa and your entire family in Jesus Name.

Daphine,

I am so sorry, honey. I have been through that season and know it's tough. But your friend is right, the sun will shine again and even brighter. It's good that you have recognized and are focusing on the blessing so having him around as long as you all have. What an amazing legacy of love and tenderness Dirk's grandfather will be leaving behind. We can all hope to be that kind of a blessing to our future generations. Love you and I will be praying for all of you.

This just leaves me speechless! I wish I had the words of comfort to offer you but there just really aren't adequate words for a time like this. Just know God is there in the midst of it all and will hold you during this difficult time. And, of course, picture Dirk's grandpa dancing again with Dirk's grandma. I'll bet he's excited about seeing her again and about dancing at the feet of Jesus! But he was wise enough to let you know it is good to cry (so long as you don't cry forever)!

If there's anything I can do for you, please let me know. Love ya friend!

I'm sorry to hear this. You are Dirk are truly awesome for taking your girls to see their great grandparents in the nursing home and hospital. I bet it meant so much to them. Most people never take the time to visit relatives once they are in a nursing home.

We take Ivy around to see her grandparents and great-grandparents as often as we can. I know it's the highlight of their day. Young people are sometimes the best medicine.

I'll keep your family in my thoughts.

To Daphine's Blogging friends-

I just wanted to informed you that Dirk's grandpa passed away yesterday(Feb.19) around 2:30 pm.

Which means Daphine's granddad and Dirk's grandpa passed away two weeks apart.

My poor nieces!!
Wow... But you cannot question God... Please keep Dirk, Daphine, Morgan, and Jae in your prayers.

You all seem like nice people. Maybe, one day I will try blogging.

I'm old school, so I have a myspace page.

Blessings & Smiles!!

Praying for you and your family right now my friend.

"The moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good." Romans 8-26-28 (Message)

Daphine, I am so sorry to hear of the difficulties you have had recently. Please know that prayers are being lifted up to the throne of the Lord on your behalf. And here is a scripture that has brought comfort to me when I have lost loved ones who were believers..."Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."Psalm 116:14-16 Hope it brings comfort to you today!
