My little Jae has no idea what a TV dinner is! Should I be ashamed?!?!?!?! lol!
During dinner last night, Morgan commented on how much her friends love coming to our house because we actually cooked homemade food. Pretty sad if you ask me....not our cooking, but that many of her friends don't get home cooked meals.
Anyhow, Dirk shared with the girls that he was raised on mostly TV dinners and not a whole lot of home cooked meals either. Yep, still pretty sad!
Little Jae innocently said, "Well we've had a TV dinner at our house, haven't we?" I didn't ever recall it, so I looked at Dirk. He said he didn't think so. Jae saw that we were a bit confused and asked again. "Mom, remember that time that the election was on? Well, that night we were eating our dinner while the TV was on? Don't you remember?" Friends, I about fell out of my seat! lol! We normally don't have the TV on while eating dinner but that was obviously a special night (no matter what your political bent) so we had it on that one time. So, my little Jae thought she had summed it up...."We had a TV dinner at our house once."
I really had no idea she didn't know what a TV dinner was, but if we've never had one....it would make sense that she didn't, right?
I guess I'll have to treat her to a real TV dinner before she actually moves out. lol!
Oh, boy! What a trip!
Hey friends, please remember to pray for Morgan tonight and tomorrow if you think about it. She starts her new J-O-B tomorrow at 11:30am!!!!!!!
I will be visiting you all later tonight!
Be blessed and have a FABULOUS weekend!

That is so funny Daphine! You are a great Mom to have never fed your kids TV Dinners! I am ashamed to say that we have frozen pizza way too often around here, which I guess pretty much classifies as a TV dinner type food! I will pray Morgan has a fabulous day tomorrow at her new job! Have a great weekend.
LOL that is too cute! tell Morgan good luck! this first couple days are always the hardest. stick with it and it gets easier and will become fun!
That is very funny! What an entertaining post! I am sure my boys don't know what a TV dinner is either!! Makes me want to add that to the menu once every six months! (we do do the frozen pizza thing though)
I loved the turkey and gravy TV dinners with the cranberry sauce when I was a kid! We probably only had them 3 times a year... they were a treat!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Remember the old tv dinners...you pulled back the foil?! I always wanted those...the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and apple pie one. I was so jealous of my friends who would have them:)
Can't wait to hear how Morgan likes her first day!
I never serve TV dinners either, and neither did my mom. Guess we've been spoiled!
I do know what they are though, because when I started working, I would buy them for a quick lunch option so my mom didn't have to stress about what I was going to eat. You can get some pretty good ones, but some are pretty gross too!
That's a hoot! We were raised on delicious home cooking, but we always thought it was such a great TREAT when our parents went out, because they would let us buy a TV dinner! LOL They were in aluminum pans. I had forgotten about that until you wrote this post...too funny!
I'll be thinking about Morgan tomorrow...she'll do just fine. :o)
That is so funny, lol I will be praying for Morgan, hope her first day goes really great.
This is very cute Daphine! I think it's fabulous that Jae thought at TV dinner was eating while watching the election results. It is true that home cooked meals are becoming more and more rare....
Oh my gosh..that is too cute...and you should be very proud of yourself, my friend!
My mom was a single mom, so she was busy alot. We had many TV dinners!!!!!!!! LOLOL!
I will say a prayer for Morgan and that is just too funny about Jae...I don't really think my kids have had one either...not that I am a gourmet chef or anything, but I never liked them as a kid. That will definitely be a real treat for her. :)
That was soo funny! I love how kids think.
A friend of mine recently had this conversation with her 2 year old son.
Im scared to go to swimming mommy
There is no reason to be scared miss Colleen will protect you. You know I will protect you too.
Will Jesus protect me?
Jesus will always protect you.
Well..... I cant see Jesus.
No we cant see Jesus, but he is always there and he is in your heart.
Long Pause.....
Mommy.... we ate Jesus?
Praying the job goes well also.
Love and Prayers,
Tim
Daphine,
That is too funny! Jae is definitel not missing anything. I remember living off of TV dinners... yuck! I couldn't even eat one now if I wanted to. I hope Morgan has a great first day at her job!
I made my kids one as a special treat they thought is was cool. We don't eat much of that type of food though either some of them aren't to bad though. Can you say Lean Cuisine (:
haha that is too funny!... My mom worked a lot, so I am oh too familiar with the tv dinners.. lol..
That's so cute!! I remember when my son (now 10) was about 4 or 5 and my oldest son (now 12) then 7 stated that one of his classmates gotten chicken pox and he didn't want to catch it.
And my dear little son (remember about 5 at the time) said with such seriousness, "Me neither, because I don't want to turn into a chicken."
I laughed and laughed. And he wanted to know what was so funny.
Kids can say the funniest things especially when they are trying to be serious. Thanks for sharing and have a bless weekend!!
That is too cute, Daphine! I can honestly say that I've never served my family actual TV dinners, either! It seems that in today's world, dinners together as a family are a thing of the past, but you have to make it a priority! It's not easy with crazy schedules and all, but I do think they help to keep the family intact.
You know full well that I will be praying for Morgan as she ventures off into the working world! She's going to have no problem, whatsoever! It might be a little nerve-racking, at first, but it's nothing she can't overcome. She just needs to focus on that moolah she'll be getting for a job well-done! Shopping spree, anyone? LOL!
How funny. We've had that conversation with our kids too. Remember the mexican tv dinners that used to come in the foil trays? I thought they were great growing up. Must admit though that I buy very little frozen..pretty much just pizzas for the kids. Oh yeah, I do like Weight Watchers Smart Ones. Anyway, no tv dinners here either.
Good luck on that job tomorrow!
I like Jae's interpretation! Come to think of it, my kids would say the same thing.
Hi Daphine
That's so funny. Thanks for sharing. I hope Morgan's job is going well. I am thinking of her.
Hope you are having a good weekend.

Oh my word! Congratulation to you for being a Mom that cooks! And good luck to Morgan!
This is so cute! Same situation at our house. One of my daughter's friends was over last week for dinner. Keep in mind, nothing special, just pasta, and you would have thought I had prepared a 5 course meal. According to her, her mother never cooks.
This is great. I love the part about having dinner in front of the t.v. That's too sweet!!
I think that's a great compliment!! :)
Prayers coming your way! She will be worn out but so excited!! :)
That is too funny my friend! My son loves the kids TV dinners. I will let him have one every once in a while for lunch. Makes lunch easy.
Hope your daughters first day of work went well.
Take care my friend!
Have a great week!
While I was still in the Philippines, that is what we always did; we eat while the TV was on.
Good wishes for Morgan. :)
That's funny. We always had dinner at the table so that we wouldn't become "axe murderers." When my sister went off to college we started eating dinner with "Uncle Dan" (Dan Rather) and watched the news while we ate.
Too funny!
P.S. I just tagged you for a meme. Check out my blog when you get a chance! :o)
TV dinner.....dinner with TV on!! I love it!! I think I would have laughed too loud....not to offend you Jae!
LOL... has Jae had her tv dinner yet??? Too cute!
How is Morgan liking her job?? I hope her first day went well! I think it's great that she's already working!
I did pray for Morgan on Saturday! Oh yes I did. I hope she had a great day. I feel terrible because I just bought 5 TV dinners. They were on sale. When I was little I used to LOVE them and we had them on special occasions. Isn't that funny. I thought I would get Kaish some for special occasions too : ).
That is a very cute post. I like frozen dinners, I am not fussy. My family likes a homecooked meal. Why are they called TV dinners?
Good luck to your daughter, teenagers are exspensive! A little pocket money can't hurt!
denise
That was funny! LOL. I grew up on TV dinners and fastfood for dinner and now my family has homecooked meals most nights. We go out for dinner about once a week. Sometimes on a Friday night we have DiGiorno's.
Hope Morgan's first day goes well!
That is so funny! It is sad that some kids don't have the pleasure of home cooked meals. One day one of Brinsley's friends told her I wish my family ate like yours and Brinsley was like what do you mean and she said together! It made me very sad.
Good luck to Morgan!
Your house is always warm and funny, You guys should write for Late Night or something!!!
LOL! I think that is one of the best points I have ever heard. It is good to know I am not alone in cooking dinner and no t.v.
