I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

Hey friends! WOW! I sure missed you ladies! I guess I really, really do like this blogging stuff! lol! However, I enjoyed getting away with my sweetheart more!

So, here's what I planned.

I planned a weekend getaway for us to go to Fredericksburg to a bed and breakfast. Fredericksburg is roughly five hours from where we live. We have many friends who love bed and breakfasts. We'd never had the experience and so I thought that it would be something fun and different. I was right!! It was fun and wayyyyyyyyyyy different!

We stayed at the place called Trois Estate at Enchanted Rock. And since it was our first time to experience a bed and breakfast, we really didn't know what to expect exactly. Okay, Dirk loved the place. I liked it just okay. It was a very clean place which scored big time in my book. It was just really different and really strange.

The are ten rooms on the property. Every room is built out of stone including the shower and the floors. The owner's home was also located on the property. Get this... the owner's home was underground. Yep, built underground! We were given a tour of the premises by one of the workers. I must say that the owner has a very different/strange collection. In just one building was a whole collection of cap guns. They were all locked away and nicely displayed in beautiful glass tables. There were hundreds of them displayed in glass top tables and glass cases. Seriously, no joke! We were told that this little collection was valued over 2 million dollars and that it is the largest cap gun collection in the world! How ridiculous, huh?

Once we got checked in Friday afternoon and toured the place, we decided to go out and explore the city a little bit. We did a little shopping downtown and then ate at this neat little German restaurant. We had never tried German food before. It was really good. It was also reasonably priced which made the experience even better. The only complaint was that they only took American Express, Discover or personal check. I've never heard of any place not accepting a Visa card before. Since we only had our debit card with the Visa logo on it and a checkbook, Dirk had to write a check for dinner. That was weird!

Saturday morning, we were treated to a wonderful breakfast at Trois. The dining room was the only room that I didn't think was totally weird. Well, except for the glass top tables that had weird things locked away inside them such as; pipes, indian artifacts, fossils, skulls (primate, maybe human!), and straight razors to name a few.

It was soooooooooooooooo relaxing not being on a schedule and not having to take care of anyone for just a little while!!! We had left our girls in very good hands and just didn't have to worry about them at all which was a huge blessing.

Saturday afternoon, we toured the place more on our own and took pictures. We later went into town to do more browsing at different stores, sight seeing around the city and ate out again.
Now that I write this....we did a lot of eating this weekend and WE DIDN'T HAVE TO COOK ANY OF IT!!!

I could share more, but I will share some of the pictures with you all and I am WAY behind of reading your blogs to see what's happening in your world.

All being said, Dirk was very happy with what I'd planned which is all that matters.
He did tell me at the end that I was truly a Ritz Carlton kind of girl. lol!

Anyhow, here are a few pictures of our weekend.

Hi again!!

I just read your comment on my blog..lol.

You know what's so weird? I was totally not in the mood to take soccer pictures this weekend! I think it's because they would all look the same as the ones I've been taking this season...know what I mean? I would proably have felt different if they were wearing totally different uniforms than the normal ones. Then I wouldn't feel like it was another "soccer game."

But, I actually did take a couple of pictures w/ my cell phone today, but it is of my youngest daughter! You'll see it on my WW post. Her games were already done, so we had time to go home and have her change her clothes for the rest of the day (this was yesterday). Anyway, she was playing w/ our friends mom's hat and it was so cute on her so I just HAD to take a picture of her in it! It came out so cute, so I cropped it and softened it up!

Welcome back...we sure missed you around here!! I have been dying to know where you swept Dirk off to...the suspense was killing me!!

The place you went sounds very interesting, to say the least, but lots of fun! I'm sure the two of you will be talking about the great time you had for years to come! There simply is nothing better than getting away for a few days with the one you love. Chris and I have some trips without the girls and it was like a shot in the arm...just what the doctor ordered. ;) Of course, I don't like being away from them too long.

I am so glad that you and Dirk enjoyed yourselves and were able to relax! Just so you know...I'm a Ritz Carlton kind of girl, too! Hee Hee!!! Welcome home, sweet friend!!!

Hey, be sure to check out my giveaway today...it's my 100th post!!

Hi Daphine, I'm glad you had such a nice weekend away. Thanks for sharing your pictures. We've been to a bed and breakfast a few times and they each have their own distinct style. A would never have thought of collecting cap guns, never mind that they could be worth millions--shows what I know! Welcome back!

You two made some great pictures. I'm jealous that you got to get away. Proud of you for organizing that trip.

Daphine,
I am so glad that you & Dirk had a good time. It's so nice to get away sometimes. I have never stayed at a bed & breakfast. I don't know if I ever will. I think that it will feel too much like I am staying at a strangers house. That is so weird about those cap guns. I can only imagine what you were thinking. Too funny! Thanks for sharing the pictures. They were so good! Hope you have great day!

The pictures make it look like you guys went to New Mexico. It does look like a great place, but I have to agree with Dirk...in just the short time I have known you, I can see you are more of a Ritz Carlton girl...and that is nothing to be ashamed of. :) Glad you guys had fun. I did miss you yesterday at church and wondered where you had headed off to. Happy Belated Birthday to Dirk!!!

Hi Daphne!! It's so nice to meet you! Now, first of all ~ you're so beautiful! And I enjoyed coming along with you to Fredricksberg. We used to love to go there, but haven't been is quite a few years. Now where you stayed looked like New Mexico to me. My family lived in Roswell for 10 years! Yes, the crazy place, before it was crazy!
Thank you for your visit and kind words. We're Texans, so I think we'll come back - it'll just take some time.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)

Hi Daphine
Wow!! That place looks amazing. I LOVED the pictures you took. I am so happy you got to spend some quality time with Dirk. I am sure you have memories from your weekend that you will treasure forever. Bed and Breakfasts in England are quite boring compared to The Trois Estate! If you look back on my blog to my very first post in August, it was about a bed and Breakfast we stayed in this summer.

So glad you had a good time. Have to admit the B&B sounds a tad "different" (I've only been to one myself but it was so homey and comfortable - yet elegant!) but it really doesn't have to be about the place, right?! Just special to be away with your sweetie and that you planned it special for him.

Welcome home!

Hi,

I saw your post on Edie's page and came over,

What a lovely family. Your daughter reminds me of my own. Isn't it wonderful when they get excited about the same things we have an interest in. Anyway, beautiful pics of your destination. God creates such wonderful things for us to enjoy. Take care!
