Spring Break 2009...

We have really enjoyed our Spring Break of not doing much of anything.

If it weren't for the girls wanting to have a couple of days out of the house, we would have totally not gone anywhere.

I would like to share the outing we had yesterday, though. Unfortunately for me, my entire family LOVES Six Flags Over Texas. I am okay with it, but if we only visited the place every three years, I'd be happy. However, I am out voted on this place every time.

We found out very quickly that a LOT of people had the same idea in mind when we ventured out to Six Flags yesterday.

I do believe that they may have reached their capacity yesterday. There were people EVERYWHERE! Get this....they were so crowded that people could have easily gotten in for FREE. We purchased our tickets online to avoid standing in line when we got there. Just driving into the park and getting a parking spot was quite humorous. The main entrance was so backed up with cars coming in that they started redirecting cars to another entrance. I didn't even know that they had another entrance. LOL! Anyhow, when we got to this other entrance, they had many people (employees) out directing traffic, right? At first, we couldn't figure out how they were taking the money for parking until it got to be our turn. Ready??? The parking was free! Yep! We normally buy the season parking which is $45.00 or you pay $15 parking for one day. I wanted to know why the parking was free, right? The employee told us that it was so busy and they were just trying to accomodate the crowd of people and they had no way to take the credit card we offered them at the alternate entrance. Okay.....cool!

So, then we get everything packed up from the car to head inside the park. We're just casually walking along with another few hundred people. We were stopped by another employee standing outside a newly opened entrance to inside the park. The guy said that if we had purchased tickets online and had proof or if we had renewed season passes, then we could walk right inside at the new entrance. Okay, most of us have been to a park like Six Flags before, right? And if you have, you know that there's a process to finally get inside. From the way it looked, you could have shown them an old season pass from last year and/or a blank sheet of paper to get in yesterday. Seriously, it was a trip!

I was glad that they were able to still do a security check through the metal detectors, though. I so wanted to turn back around and come back home after seeing how busy and crowded the place was going to be.

Luckily, it turned out to be okay and not as painful as I thought. The girls had a blast. Jae was still able to ride many rides in the kiddie section and well....Morgan's boyfriend was also visiting Six Flags with his family. So needless to say, the crowd didn't seem to bother them at all!

We found out in advance that the park rents kennels, too. So, we took our Gucci with us.

Here's a few pictures to share with you. I won't bore you with posting pictures of roller coaster rides since I've shared them before. You can only take the same ole' roller coaster pictures so many times. lol!!!

Jae and Hawkgirl striking a pose together.
Jae and Mr. Six. The Six Flags' mascot!

Hmmm....looking at this last picture above, I look like I have just loved dogs my whole life. How about that!?!?!? Also notice how, Gooch has also gotten accustomed to taking photos in this family. He's sitting there like a pro. lol!
Have a great weekend, friends!

So you were able to take Gooch there with you? How cool! You do look like you've been in love with dogs your whole life.

Looks like an awesome family day! I'm with you though, every few years is enough for me. I can just live without those lines.

I'm glad y'all had a good time. My kids didn't mention it this year, so I was off the hook. I'll probably catch it in the summer. My friend came from San Antonio and she said she stood in line for 2 hrs!!! Glad you got to avoid the line.

Be Blessed!

Looks and sounds like you guys are having a GREAT time!! Sadly I've never been to Six Flags. The closest one was 6 hrs away growing up, maybe when we move back to the states we'll take the kids!

Okay, I know this wasn't the point of the pictures, but I can't believe how big your puppy is? I swear you just got him yesterday and he was so tiny. And yes...look at you. Holding him like a true dog lover. Praise be to God!!!

So now for the real point. I'm so glad you guys got out and headed to SF. Looks like everyone had a great time in spite of the enourmous crouds. Good for you guys. Happy spring break and I'll see you on Sunday!

You and your family always take the best pictures! You're all so photogenic...yes, even Gucci! You, obviously, have fun spending time together. That's what it's all about!

Glad you able to enjoy the day after all, even with the hugh crowd. I don't do well with crowds. We went to Disneyland last Saturday and looking at the lines waiting to get in I thought it was going to be unbearable, but I was pleasantly surprised. Thankfully, the longest we waited for anything was about 30 minutes.

Daphine,

I am so glad that you & your family had a great time at Six Flags. I have only ever been to a Six Flags once (Georgia) and that was many moons ago. We haven't been to an amusement park in well over 5 years. You have given me the fever. Maybe we can squeeze one in this year. I loved that you were able to take Gucci. He is so cute!

Oh, what a fun day! Do you go a lot in the summer? How far is it from your house? We have a park about an hour away from here and I always wonder if I should get season tickets for Kaish. I just don't think we would go enough. Who knows....

Daphine,

Hi there...just stopping by from Kristin's blog to say hello. Love the family pics...we don't take enough of those around here. Also noticed your puppy. We also have a Boston...his name is Winston and he's a brindle. He was given to us a couple of years ago by some people we used to go to church with. He's very high maintenance and is like a 3rd child to me!

Funny, when we were younger (and that would be like 30 years ago for me), we didn't mind the crowds. Now, I can barely abide them. I never understood my parents' need for quiet and solitude; now I get fully "get" it!

Thanks for stopping by the blog. You are welcome anytime.

I'm so proud of you getting over your fear of dogs! You and Gucci look very comfortable with each other! :o)

Oh wow Six Flags on spring break, have not done that in 13 years and it was super busy then. Seem like everyone had a good time and thats whats important. Score on the free parking, didnt know it cost so much.

Ya'll are very cute. It makes me sound like a very old lady when I say this but I REALLY hate crowds, long lines, and parking drama. I would much prefer to stay at home and do nothing! Glad ya'll had fun!

I really enjoy reading the post. I love looking at the pictures. I am so glad to hear and see that everyone had a blast. By the way, you have a beautiful family. Thanks so much for sharing!!

You are brave! We went to 6 Flags last Spring break. The lines were so long. I think we rode 4 rides in an eight hour day. Just to get something to eat was a 2 hour wait.

The kennel must be something new. I think that is a great idea to include Gucci in your family outing.

Katie said...

That was awesome you got to park free. Did you have to wait forever to ride though? I hate crowdes though. Pictures are cute.
