Yep, I'm Still ALIVE!!!

There's been wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much going on around here. I just realized that it's been almost two weeks since my last update. Don't worry... I won't dare write about everything that's been going on. This will be one of those random sentence or two posts.

My girls went back to school on August 27th. Jaelyn is in 3rd grade and Morgan is a junior! It's so hard to believe that I have a JUNIOR!!!! April, I think of you often knowing that you have a SENIOR this year!!!

Morgan turned 16 on August 29th, got her license on Monday, August 31st and started driving all by herself the same day. I was having a difficult time on Monday with her driving without us there to guide her. I will still continue to be concerned as long as she's out there driving. However, she has done exceptionally well so far. Praise the Lord for calming me down in this area! I think I was not only wearing myself out but also wearing my poor hubby out as well with all my worrying. Mind you... Dirk doesn't worry about anything. Is my hubby the only one in this dept... Worry free!?!??!?! I kid him all the time that he will surely live longer than me.

Do any of you totally forget how old you are? Don't laugh... I'm really serious. For the life of me, I cannot seem to remember my age. I have been telling people ALL year that I am 38. This coming Tuesday is my birthday. Dirk and I were talking earlier this week and he said, "Quick, tell me; how old are you're going to be?" I quickly said, "39!" He just looked at me and shook his head...."Daphine, you're going to be 38." I seem to do this every year! I guess I am just one of those abnormal people. Who in the world would say that they are older, especially when they are no longer a teenager???? Seriously!

Dirk is in the kitchen right now baking a buttermilk pie. Have any of you ever had one of these???? I love me some buttermilk pie!!! He recently mastered a recipe for it and this is the 3rd one he's made in less than two weeks. I took one to work and shared with the ladies there, so we're not totally that ridiculous around here.

We have absolutely nothing going on this Labor Day weekend and I AM SO HAPPY about that!
I can't wait to pop in and see what you all have been up to. Though I am not on as often as I used to be, I do think of you all often.

On my next post..... I'll have to share some pictures of Morgan's Birthday Tea Party that her Nana gave to her. It was a real treat!

Okay......that buttermilk pie is calling my name!

Have a great weekend, all!

Yay, I'm so happy to read an update from you...I've missed you!

It IS tough when our children get their driver's licenses...they don't need us as much anymore...*sniff, sniff*!

I have never had buttermilk pie! Is it a custard-type pie? Sounds interesting!

How cool, my Bday is August 29th too! I was telling everyone I was going to be 34 and my 9 year old said, "No, you're only going to be 33 this year, Mom." Ha! So, don't feel bad! I think after about 25, I lost track. Glad you're going to be able to relax this weekend.....enjoy your time off :)

I'm so glad that Morgan has been doing so well with her driving and you can calm down (just a bit).

Oh, and I just LOVE buttermilk pie...YUM!!!!

So glad to see you're still alive! Summer has a way of keeping us so busy doesn't it! Glad to hear that all is well. Will be looking forward to the pics of Morgan's party! Wow, 16 years old!

Daph, I do the same thing. A couple months before my birthday, I start thinking about how old I'm going to be, and people will ask, "how old are you" and I usually answer with the age that I'm going to be, and then have to stop and think about it, and correct myself, and then they look at me like I have a 3rd eye! ;) But hey, just think of it this way: it's like when the time changes in the fall and you gain an hour, only, you get to gain a whole YEAR! ;)

Loved that random post! Sometimes it's great to just get a few things out there, instead of only concentrating on one subject.

Take care dear friend!

oh, and tell Dirk that if he wants more practice on those pies, he could always make one and send it to me! ;)

Daphine, I love your posts. The updates are great. I've never had buttermilk pie. I will have to put it on my list of must-haves.

Glad to hear that Morgan is doing well! Go girl!!

I think we all tend to forget our age at times. I always say the children @ church are getting so big, needless to say, I forget that I'm getting older in the process. LOL

Happy early b-day!! Have a blessed one & a great weekend :)

Happy Birthday to your daughter and upcoming to you. May the blessings of the LORD rest with you and your entire family.

I pray safety on the roads for your precious daughter. I have a 16 yr old driving now as well but not alone yet.

I haven't experienced forgetting my age (43 to be exact) but forgetting other things? Absolutely!

Prayers and blessings.

Hi buttermilk pie girl! We love them too. :)

It has been very busy here too. Tanner is a senior and believe me they have a calendar full! Speaking of driving, Tanner got a ticket last week and we don't even know for sure what he did wrong. It is for Disregarding a Signal. However, he says he was going down the street doing the same thing as everyone else. No signals or signs. He was so mad he had a crying melt down! Sheesh!!

Happy Birtday! I hope you have a wonderful day and year to come.

Buttermilk pie. Oh my gosh that sounds so good Daphine!

I have been praying for your daughter whenever I see a red sports car! Praying Gods protection as she ventures on the highways of life : )

So excited about their school year. I hope they have a great year. Kaish started to day, and I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I cried all day. I don't know why this year it is hitting me so hard. I just want him to stay little forever.

How in the world do I keep missing your posts? I am so sorry...just a complete oversight on my part! Sure have missed you!

Happy, Happy Belated Birthday, my friend! I hope it was one of the best you've ever had! 20 and holding, right?

Yes, this year with Brittany being a SENIOR is about to get the best of me. I have a boo-hoo session about every other day, I kid you not. It's going to go by so fast and there's no stopping it. There are yearbook ads and announcements to order, senior portraits...not to mention shopping around for colleges! I'm trying to just take it one day at a time. Still, I can't believe that in less than a year, she'll be heading off to college! So, cherish every last moment, my friend...it slips by quicker than you think. Happy Belated Birthday to Morgan, too! 16 is such a wonderful age...most days! ;)

I have heard of a buttermilk pie, but have never tried one. Sounds pretty yummy to me!

Thanks for stopping by my blog tonight and all of your sweet comments! Hope you are doing well! :)
