Homecoming Game, School Dance & Church Lock-In

I tell ya, I am soooooooooooooo glad this week is over!!! I'll spare you most of the details of our running around this week, but last night was the final kicker for me.

Morgan had a homecoming game, a school dance and a church lock-in ALL IN ONE NIGHT!!

After working all day yesterday, I came home and immediately started my second job.

Timeline:

5:30 ~ I picked Morgan up at the front door and headed to the mall. On top of everything else, what was I thinking to agree to this last minute request from her???

6:30 ~ Came home from the mall and styled Morgan's hair for the school dance.

8:00 ~ Dropped Morgan off at the football game. The dance was immediately following the game. So, luckily Morgan only had to walk from the football field to the main school building to attend the dance.

8:30 ~ I was finally able to grab a bite to eat.

9-10:15 ~ I actually had time to visit with Dirk and Jae before taking a quick nap. lol

10:20- 11:45 ~ Totally knocked out!!

Midnight ~ We went to pickup Morgan from the dance

WAIT...there's more;

Morgan came home to get ready for the church lock-in. It actually started at 11pm and was going to last until 7am this morning!

Todd(her boyfriend) was able to attend the lock-in, but since Todd's dad was the D.J. for the school dance, Todd had to help tear down the music equipment......

Finally at 1:30, we took Morgan and Todd to the lock-in.

Got back home at 2:15AM and crashed until 6:30AM!!

April (if you're reading this), I now feel your pain when you are running like this.

If I can be honest??? I was NOT happy last night. We had known about all of this for more than two weeks now. And since we do not allow Morgan to ride with her friends (who are all new drivers), we also knew when we agreed to let her go to all of this that we would have to shuttle her back and forth. I should have been more prepared and totally okay with my night being interrupted but, being honest again...I was extremely tired from a long week. I just wanted to get off work and be treated to a nice dinner. I know....stop whining, huh?

As I look back on all the chaos of last night, I am more appreciative today that Morgan not only wanted to participate in all of her school functions, but she also wanted to attend the functions at our church.

Isn't it something how much clearer we can put things into perspective when we've gotten our rest in?

Whew!!!! Glad I got all that out. Now I totally feel better.

Daphine,

You whine all you want to, girl! I have walked in your shoes many times over, so I'm right there with you! It's so hard when you feel like you're being pulled in a thousand and one directions, isn't it?? I really don't know how I'll react if I ever have a weekend with absolutely nothing planned. I'll probably just breathe a big ol' sigh of relief and...fall asleep!! I'm just getting too old to be running around after teens and preteens all the time!

Just wait until Morgan starts driving. That's when the REAL fun begins. Oh, and just to let you know, Brittany and Andrew haven't spoken since last night. He took her out to a movie (we dropped her off at the mall to meet him). He was 10 mins. late AND he hadn't eaten, so he got some Chinese food and ate in front of her during the movie! She expressed how upset she was with him for ALWAYS being late and for not having enough courtesy to not eat in front of her DURING the movie. She said they didn't speak a word during the entire movie. She was not happy, and I don't blame her, either! I just don't think he values her very much. Could this be the end??? Stay tuned!! :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and know I'm thinking of you. Believe me...I understand.

HA!! You cracked me up with the comment about my "intruder!" This was a little bitty woman - I could SO TAKE HER!! HA!!!!!!!!

Now as for you.. I don't blame you for whining - I do NOT like to be woke up when I'm sleeping. I mean, there are but a few things...

I think it's great that you're not turning your daughter loose with her friends just yet. You can never be too safe! I mean, one wrong decision and it could totally change their lives - or worse, end it. (You know driving while texting.. or whatever) I think it just proves that you're great parents!

Get some rest, my friend!

Daphine,

There's a poignant little meme out there called "you're gonna miss this"....hmmmm

With Josh driving it's a busy time for us running to football games and things, but, nothing compared to when we used to have to do the shuttle ... but I love how you put it all in perspective and loved her willingness to spend time lovin on the Lord.

Hope your Saturday was blessed! ((hugs)) to you

Girl I can relate to that kind of day. My youngest son is a busy kind of guy..keeps me running. He's about to drive through so I'm trying to relish the moments.

I'm so glad you came to visit me. I'll be back to see you. By the way, your daughters are gorgeous!

Busy! It is good that she wanted to participate in all those things, though.

Hi Daphine, Thanks for your visit to my blog and your kind comments. I've been reading your blog and have really enjoyed it so much-your personality shines right through.

I can totally sympathize with your evening although my kids are a bit older now. I have three--two girls and a boy, and there was one year right before my oldest was able to drive that I felt like I literally lived in my car! We had also made the decision not to have our kids drive with new drivers and I don't regret it at all, but oh my...there were days when I was so weary. I have to say that while there are many things I miss now that my kids are in their 20s, driving around town at all hours and waiting in parking lots for them is not one of them!

Holy Cow! I was reading all of this, and it made me fear the teen years a little bit!

You look SO young on your profile picture. I absolutely can NOT believe you have been married for 18 years.

Thanks for coming to my blog! I can't wait to read more of yours! God bless!
