Our Neighborhood Block Party!

Last night, our neighborhood had it's annual block party. We've only lived in the neighborhood for about a year and a half. Unfortunately, we missed last year's party. I can't remember why. In any case, I am sure that most of you know what a neighborhood block party is. But in case you don't, it's a party where you have the opportunity to meet and socialize with your neighbors in an outdoor party held on a street closed for the occasion.

After hearing how much fun it was last year, we made a point of going this year. It turned out to be really nice. They provided free food for everyone, free bottled water, dessert, etc. There was a bounce house for the kids. There was even a DJ playing the music. Ready for this???? I even danced!!! Since the other parents were up dancing, I had to be a "cool" mom too, ya know? I tried my best to hide behind other parents, though. For those of you who don't know, I am a black woman with ABOSULTELY no rhythm. Everytime I attempt to dance (which is not very often at all), Morgan is right there to remind me of it! LOL

Anyhow, we took a few pictures at the party. I'll decide at the end if I post any of me dancing. Dirk made a point of taking PLENTY pictures of me making a fool out of myself.

Sorry! I thought about it. I just couldn't post any of me dancing. I know that you were really looking forward to seeing them. LOL

Anywho, we really had a great time! Already looking forward to it again next year.

That looked like so much fun!! I wish our neighborhood did something like that. But I won't get into the probable reason why they don't. Lets just say that you can barely get anyone to wave at you much less socialize with you. Thank goodness our across the street neighbors are nice. I was disappointed to not see the dancing pictures.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!! (And you shouldn't be afraid to shake a rug!!) I bet the pictures of you dancing show you smiling and having fun!

I've never been to a neighbor block party but they sound so neat and a great way to get to socialize!

Looks like everyone had a great time! We used to have block parties in our former neighborhood and they were always such a blast! It's a lot of fun to be able to hang out with neighbors, some of whom you've never even met. Unfortunately, we live in a very large neighborhood here, about 2,500 houses, so block parties aren't even a possibility. Sad, but true.

Come on, Daphine...you owe us some pictures of you dancing the night away! I certainly may not be the best dancer in the world, but I love to try! :)

Hi Daphine,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your neighborhood block party looks like it was a blast!!! What a fun thing to do. We live in an area where the houses are on at least an acre each and don't have anything like that (but at least we know most all of the neighbors all around us). Sure wish you would have posted those dancing pictures....hehehe

Fun blog...I'll be back to visit!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. These pictures were great! It looks like you had a great time. I remember when David danced before the Lord and he said "I will become even more undignified than this!" Yes! Who cares what we look like...right?

Blessings to you today dear sister.

Hello there, I'm so glad you took the time to stop and say hello. I always love to go and meet those who felt a connection to me to want to say hello.
Welcome to blogging, it has been a wonderful experience for me and I hope it will be the same for you.
You have an absolutley beautiful family and I enjoyed visiting your blog. I like the warm feel and the familyiness of your blog. I will list you and come back to read weekly. I feel like I have made a new friend.
I envy you on the block party, sometimes I wish I lived in the city instead of the countryside. I would love to attend the famous block parties I hear about. The only draw back is sometimes I play really loud with my dogs and sometimes I've been known to yell at my husband a time or two ( he is the light of my life though). I would be worried the neighbirs would hear and make fun of me and I would miss my morning flower stroll around the yard with my coffee in my bath robe. Ha!. I'm old fashioned, I still say Ha! instead of lol.
See ya next time and have a wonderful day
Shanda

First I must say, nice facelist on your blog. Looks adorable. I love it!!! You may have to help me at some point refresh mine.

Anyway, sounds and looks like you guys had a great time. I think it's wonderful for people to still get to know their neighbors and socialize with each other. That seems to me a lost art these days. Glad you guys had so much fun...and that you let your hair down and cut a rug. It's not about how you look, but about having some fun.

I just mentioned to my hubby this weekend that I wished our neighborhood had block parties. Everyone here just tends to keep to themselves and just wave when coming or going.

Looks like y'all had lots of fun.

Thanks for stopping by our blog. It's always fun to "meet" new people, even if it is just in blogland.
